A Friendly Ear is Only a Call Away

EPIC Generation’s Friendly Caller Program provides social connection and service referrals for LGBTQ seniors through regular phone calls. The goal of these calls is to alleviate stress and improve the health of our clients. Approximately 76% of LGBTQ elders express concerns about needing support as they age, as they often do not have children and are more likely to be estranged from their families. These weekly check-in calls, completed by volunteers, can help improve psychosocial wellbeing, provide the opportunity to talk with like-minded people, provide more years of living in their home and increase access to community resources.
