Serving and Supporting EPIC’s LGBTQ Seniors
LGBTQ individuals often face many challenges as they age. Many are often invisible within mainstream and within their own LGBTQ communities. They are less likely to receive family support and assistance in meeting their financial, health and housing needs and more often experience significant physical and mental disparities compared to their non-minority counterparts.
EPIC’s Friendly Caller Program fosters multigenerational connections in the LGBTQ community by providing social connection and community service referrals through regular phone calls with trained volunteers. These volunteers offer mutual social support by sharing meaningful conversation and promote lasting friendships. The goal of these regular phone calls is to alleviate stress and improve the overall health of our clients.
